Having root-level access to your server means that you will be able to view and modify any file on it, which includes essential system files. You can also set up software which can update specific settings on your server during the process, so the installation can be done only if you are logged in as the root user. The latter has full privileges, i.e. you'll have full control over the machine at any time and you'll be able to do anything you would like. You can also create additional users either with similar rights or with fewer rights, according to what you need them for - everyday tasks, other server administrators, etcetera. To be on the safe side, it's usually recommended to employ the root account only when you actually need it and not for tasks that you can do through other accounts. You can use a web-based graphical interface or a Secure Shell console in order to connect to the server and to control it at the root level.

Full Root-level Access in VPS Servers

Our VPS web hosting plans come with different levels of access, in order to give you the option to select the one you need, depending on your level of experience and on what you'll need the server for. If you get a VPS devoid of Control Panel, you will have full root-level access and you can take care of everything from a console, unless you install a third-party software instrument. The servers that are ordered with the DirectAdmin or the cPanel hosting Control Panel also include full root access, however most of the things that are related to your world-wide web content can be done using a graphical interface and not a console. You can set up many different frameworks or media streaming software, for instance, without any problems. When you obtain your virtual hosting server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you can still use a Secure Shell console to connect, however, the root access is reduced. Yet, the Hepsia-equipped servers are the simplest to take care of.

Full Root-level Access in Dedicated Servers

If you select the cPanel or the DirectAdmin hosting Control Panel, you'll have full root access to your new dedicated server, no matter which of our plans you'll choose during the signup process. The very same is valid when you decide not to add a Control Panel at all. All of our servers provide you with the opportunity to run both very resource-demanding applications that are too heavy for a standard shared web hosting account and apps which have certain requirements as to what the software environment on your web hosting server should be. The latter is something that can't be achieved on a shared machine, as no server-side software can be installed on it. The difference between the abovementioned options is that without a Control Panel, server management can be done only from a console, while if you acquire cPanel or DirectAdmin, most system settings and your web content can be controlled through a graphical interface. When you choose Hepsia, which is the last Control Panel option on the order page, you'll have a server with restricted root access.
